Pure Oil
This work tells the story of neglect and apathy towards our natural environment through a series
of photographs made along a secluded stretch of road traversing the Louisiana Coastal Prairie. This location is home to crawfish and rice farming, important habitat for resident and migratory birds, hunting, oil production, and illegal dumping- including dozens of tires in ditches that run alongside the roadway. The images are representative of the inherited legacy of the South- that heartbreaking paradox of beauty and violence in our landscape. They are a study of human nature. Photographs made from 2023 -Present.
